The Deus Bike Build-Off, Venice

The Boundless Enthusiasm Bike Build Off America sounds pretty simple. Below is a description of the competition:

THE RULES
JUDGING CRITERIA
  1. MAKING THE MOST WITH THE LEAST
  2. THE ENTRY MUST RUN (I.E. KICK OVER AND IDLE)
  3. MUST BE RIDEABLE (I.E. ROLL UNDER OWN POWER)
  4. DISPLAY CREATIVITY IN DESIGN OR CONSTRUCTION
  5. DISPLAY INGENUITY IN DESIGN OR FUNCTION
Oh...and the local winners from Sydney, Milan, Bali, and L.A. compete for the overall title! The outcome of the L.A. (Venice) event was determined by esteemed Judges; Yoshi Kosaka, Shinya Kimura, Michael Woolaway, Mike (Relief Judge), and our very own Lori Bentley-Law!

Orange County was covered in thick fog and that broke around Seal Beach, traffic was light for the 405. We were greeted with hot coffee at Deus and Lori was soon whisked away with the other Judges by Julian and Hiroshi. While they were busy Daniella and I tried to figure out a way to sneak Yoshi's bike out of the shop. We failed so I drank more coffee and took a few pictures.

Mike Hodis of Rising Sun Jeans hosted a post Inspiration party Sunday with all the trimmings. Rising Sun hand crafts denim and work wear on antique sewing machines using traditional techniques and the highest quality materials. Mike's passion for quality is only rivaled by his knowledge and skill. Took the R100S out Santiago Canyon to try out the new throttle cables...they work, and had lunch at the Silverado Cafe . This place is pretty good. It reminds me of the cafes found in small towns far away from California. The waitress was real nice, the food was good, and lunch was less than $10 including coffee! I'm going to try breakfast next time. Cafe Racer Lunch Counter at Silverado Cafe I was honored to be allowed to drink from Rosemary's pretty cat mug. Pantera motor spotted at Belmont Shores car show today. Thanks for humoring me. This is a test for the mobile blog thing. It finally worked! Since you're here...this car really had a gold plated drivetrain and lots of trim including custom made bumpers. Believe it or not it looked really cool in a strange way. Here you go Barbary Buzzard. Lori got better shot of engine compartment. and the bumpers.

Camp 66 Motor Palace!

The mirror we bought at the swap meet in Tustin fits! We'll hang it up after we paint. We finally got to sleep in the Motor Palace! The apartment's almost done so we decided to give it a try for the 18th Annual "Just Cruzin' Car Show." "Almost done" as in electricity, water, toilet, walls, heating and AC.
