We ate For details and recipes go to our  Townhomesteader blog   Rib-Eye Roast Sweet Potato Pie.  Recipe @ 66 Pie Where we eat We messed with Motorcycles Sold some cool stuff Schott NYC Leather Jackets Motor Dolls Books Took this Picture in Black & White mode It reminds me of Albuquerque, N.M. in the late '60s. It's Orange, CA in 2013. Drove Around With all the electrical working, new brakes, and a new exhaust system, Baby got to do some exploring in the big city...on genuine paved roads! It wasn't good Christmas weather but it was great weather so we took turns looked at Christmas lights in the Jeep and the Sidecar. With a new exhaust system, baby purrs like a kitten.

Safe in Seligman...it's a Wrap!

Excuse last night 8/23/13 I'm having trouble with my Eye Fi card again, it may or may not transfer pictures to my phone. Update this morning 8/24/13 It's not transferring most  most of my pictures. They're on the card, it's just not transmitting a signal. Here's a couple shots at the San Juan Inn I would have posted the 23rd. Finished from home 8/25/13 The good news is you won't miss much from the glorious morning ride because it was too glorious to stop for pictures in the beginning and too wet to stop in the back half. After careful consideration and planning we picked perennial favorite Seligman. Since it's an easy ride over familiar roads we didn't get on the bikes 'til after 11:00am. It was already in the 90s but the air felt cool when we started across the bridge towards Monument Valley. (Sorry Brian Jr. She made me!) The wind was gusty and we could see squalls ahead. The road through Monument Valley is smooth with p...

Shop time with the YZ80 Finished stripping the YZ80 chassis and will split the cases tomorrow. So far other than the oil pump mess it seems solid. I'm going to go ahead and bore the cylinder and go one up on the piston. Drilling more screws out. More cleaning, it still needs a few more passes. G/S needs to go for a ride soon. Dream Jeep  We've made the final arrangements for the baby we're adopting and she should be here in a couple weeks. She's lived on a ranch in San Luis Obispo since 1988, and a ranch in Santa Ynez before that. Life's been easy with 17,000 original miles. She's powered by the "Dauntless" V6 which was originally used by Buick in passenger cars. It's all stock but the radio and the roll bar. We'll give her a bath and see what we got when she gets here! Schott has my back on special delivery to Chase Bank. The new baby...look at those hubcaps! and that face! Throttle Merchants Magazine ...

CA Route 66 and Motorcycles

Route 66 News (for reals) I crashed the Route 66 IECA organization's Kick-Off Party for the Rancho Cucamonga Service Station restoration project Wednesday and learned a little about their mision. The Rancho Cucamonga Service Station has been abandoned since the early '70s. It's one of the few Route 66 icons standing in Rancho Cucamonga and has been perilously close to demolition. The Route 66 IECA is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization whose members got the city, public, and the previous property owner behind a plan to restore it. We'll let them fill you in on the details. There's a ton of great information about the project and local Route 66 opportunities on their site. http://route66ieca.org/home Anthony Gonzalez President of Route 66 IECA the group dedicated to the preservation project. L. Dennis Michael, Rancho Cucamonga's Mayor thanking everybody for their efforts. Unveiling the new sign Slim feeling pretty special around all the...
