Santa Rosa, NM is a good Route 66 town with some real good food. The fat man smiling on the sign came from the Club Cafe which served from 1935 'til 1991-2. The Campos family bought it a few years later but the building needed too much repair so they moved the fat man smiling to their restaurant. This place is real good.

Childress, TX is on the 287 about half way between Amarillo and Ft. Worth. The highway goes right through the middle of town. It looked better in real life than in these pictures.

Mike Hodis of Rising Sun Jeans hosted a post Inspiration party Sunday with all the trimmings. Rising Sun hand crafts denim and work wear on antique sewing machines using traditional techniques and the highest quality materials. Mike's passion for quality is only rivaled by his knowledge and skill. Took the R100S out Santiago Canyon to try out the new throttle cables...they work, and had lunch at the Silverado Cafe . This place is pretty good. It reminds me of the cafes found in small towns far away from California. The waitress was real nice, the food was good, and lunch was less than $10 including coffee! Pantera motor spotted at Belmont Shores car show today. Thanks for humoring me. This is a test for the mobile blog thing. It finally worked! Since you're here...this car really had a gold plated drivetrain and lots of trim including custom made bumpers. Believe it or not it looked really cool in a strange way. Here you go Barbary Buzzard. Lori got better shot of engine compartment. and the bumpers.

SHOP NOW VISIT our WEBSITE After my cousin Tim posted a picture of our grandfather in a WWI Navy uniform (I never knew he was in the Navy) I got a little curious about my family. I Googled my grandfather and learned he was born in Missouri. I'm pretty happy about that because I liked riding Route 66 through Missouri last summer and everyone we met there was really nice. Wendy and John who we hung out with in Seligman, AZ are from Missouri too! My Grandfather's parents, brothers, and sisters in 1894. He was born in 1895 and didn't make this photo. My Grandmother was born in Mississippi near Tupelo on the Natchez Trace. She was a librarian and school teacher in Forrest City, Arkansas before marrying my grandfather and moving to California in the late 30s.  My Grandmother Mabel Wren and Grandfather Hayden Law 1937.
