Anonymous December 30, 2012 10:10 AM That "Porn Sled" just makes me giggle every time I see it in a photo. Is the plastic front end still pliable, or has it gone all hard and cracked? I really need to see a pic of Lori sitting inside the beige bomber. Something tells me she's truly repulsed by the "sled"! Happy New Year! Official 66 Motor Palace response: Enclosed is undeniable proof Lori loves the Porn Sled. The Porn Sled has spent its life garaged except a short period when it lived under a cover. The nose and tail are still pliable but the shiny beige laquer paint has a fair amount of checking. Happy New Year!

We finally got out!

Our ride to Milwaukee via Route 66 and some other road north of Chicago began late Saturday afternoon. Checkout Lori's new Road Trip Haircut after 100 miles. Weather forecasts all week warned of extreme heat with a 20-30% chance of thunderstorms. They were right and it made for perfect riding weather. About the time our Camelbaks began to boil and the cool vests were warm the rain would save us. We even had a tail wind for awhile and got 64 MPG. (That's up from the low to mid 50s we're used to.) It must have rained all week because the desert was emerald green with patches of yellow flowers and red rock still darkened from the rain. We even saw a biggo rainbow. Leaving Barstow Helpful raven in Ludlow We were rolling and didn't take many pictures so you'll need to download instagram for the brain and imagine it. We approached Needles shortly after sunset and the temperature went large again. One last fuel stop then we dodged trucks in a headwind...

Happy Birthday to me!

We slept in, ate breakfast and spent way too much time installing Lori's new swingarm bag to get in any miles in. Fortunately our poor planning and lack of self control provided an excuse to stay at the Wigwam Motel in San Bernardino. On motorcycles...back to your garage Bondorella. Bondorella being shiny (Bonus Picture) An Asian-Mexican fusion breakfast Vintage Bultaco windbreaker that fits! We've been wanting to stay in the Wigwams in Holbrook for a while but It's too close to Winslow if we're going somewhere, and too far if we're working on the Palace. The Wigwam Motel in San Bernardino is only about fifty miles from Orange so we rode North West to get in a little Route 66 exploration. Private dance party at Honey's in Glendora . Gasoline Girls Berdoo? We added just about 30 miles to the ride but managed to kill a few hours and arrived just before sunset. Kumar and his Wigwams . This is weird and it h...

We just got a bath tub for the Motor Palace from Al & Anna in Orange. Al's a Winslow fan and an Urban Designer who went to school in Flagstaff. They even offered us a break on the price since it was going to a good home.   Bondorella even got in on the action.

Motor Palace Update

Image
The primary purpose of our Fall Route 66 tour was of course, to check up on the Motor Palace in Winslow. We'd hope to have at least phase one (apartment) complete so we could stay in the building, but, that didn't happen. We did meet with the architect and made some progress. The old layers of plaster on the walls is something we will preserve as much as possible... Brian ordering Gil's jacket while actually at the Motor Palace! Checkin' in with Rusty (he's fine). Cleaning weeds around the Carriage House... ...and Lori, with new window sticker sporting Schott NYC hooded wool cape. Available now at the 66 Motor Palace in Orange or buy it below!
