The following are links to places we've visited and liked. We've started with Lodging and will add Restaurants & Attractions as we go. Be sure to say "hi" from us when you stop in!

LODGING

Blue Swallow Motel
Blue Swallow Motel -Tucumcari, NM.
Tucumcari is a great Route 66 town and the Blue Swallow is a big reason why. Kevin and Nancy are excellent hosts and a wealth of information. We're not positive but we think they stayed in all the best Route 66 Motels and took notes.

Boot's Motel
Boot's Motel -Carthage, MO.
The sisters who own Boot's are preserving/restoring the Motel as it would have been in 1946. Not retro, but as authentic as is possible. They're using period correct and original furnishings down to authentic 40's era chenille bed spreads where possible. They're also walking distance to a great homestyle restaurant. They're getting ready to remove the '70s add on roof next so the Boot's will look as pretty as it did when it was built!

Canyon Lodge
Canyon Lodge -Seligman, AZ.
Reinhardt and Mike are obsessed with perfection and it shows. The theme rooms are well executed, spotless, and walking distance to Snow Cap! Their website isn't working so this is a link to "tripadvisor" with contact info.

Chelsea Motor Inn
Chelsea Motor Inn -Chelsea, OK.
A traditional Route 66 Motel restored and very well maintained, spotless rooms, and run by motorcycle people. No website (Facebook) so call them at (918) 789-3437. Trudy and Frank are real nice. Just a few miles down the road from Claremore and Memaw's Kitchen.

El Rancho Hotel
El Rancho Hotel -Gallup, NM.
"The Charm of Yesterday, the Convenience of Tomorrow" Thirties elegance with a great restaurant and lounge. Tell Leroy Brian said "hi", he'll say "who?" Then tell him "Happy Anniversary!" He's worked there twenty years as of June 2012.

Hill Top Motel
Hill Top Motel -Kingman, AZ.
Traditional Motel older restoration with a little wear and tear. Real nice people, great value, quiet, and convenient with pool and beautiful cactus garden maintained by Dennis.

La Posada Holidays
La Posada Hotel -Winslow, AZ.
"The Last Great Railroad Hotel built in 1929 by the Santa Fe Railway for the Fred Harvey Company." Everybody needs to stay here at least once! The Unofficial Hotel of the 66 Motor Palace. (We'd make it official but don't want them to ban us.) Be sure to thank Alan for saving the La Posada, it is truly a gift to travelers.

Lydia's Loft
Lydia's Loft -Pontiac, IL.
A restored 1890's loft overlooking Historic Pontiac's Courthouse. The Loft is actually a furnished two bedroom Shopkeeper's apartment above Lydia's Cup (eat here). Dave and Carey are so nice we wanted to stay forever.

Wagon Wheel Motel
Wagon Wheel Motel -Cuba, MO.
Connie recently restored/saved this Route 66 Legend to a very high standard. Great rooms, motorcycle parking, nice people and walking distance to great Missouri style BBQ. Very clean and quiet.
